Americans Prefer Energy Fix to Health Research, Says Poll

About 37% of respondents said they would rank spending to raise energy efficiency and develop alternative fuel technology a top priority for future investment. About 30% ranked more funding for medical research as most important. The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) conducted the poll. It also conducted a parallel poll in the UK. Respondents there ranked health-care research as the top priority, over fuel efficiency and alternative fuels. Click to View Entire Article

Michael A. Lo Presti, PE, obtains Certified Sustainable Design Professional (CSDP) Certification
Presti & Company, Inc. announces that Michael A. Lo Presti, the firm’s Principal Engineer, has obtained the Certified Sustainable Design Professional (CSDP) accreditation. Mr. Lo Presti is one of only fifteen engineering professionals within the Mid-Atlantic region who have achieved the newly designated status of Certified Sustainable Design Professional, CSDP, from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). He is the only Licensed Professional Engineer in private practice within Loudoun County with the CSDP designation. The Certified Sustainable Development Professional (CSDP) dsesignation provides recognition for professionals who have distinguished themselves as leaders in the sustainable development field. CSDP identifies individuals who have demonstrated high levels of technical expertise in energy management and environmental practices. The benefit of having a CSDP Professional involved in engineering projects ensures the technical expertise necessary to make proper design tradeoffs in favor of Sustainable Design. This design is of importance because it includes the practices of energy conservation and energy cost reduction without loss in building performance.
